Rusnano top executive detained in Moscow for power abuse

MOSCOW, Jun 13 (PRIME) -- Andrei Gorkov, managing director for investment operations at Russian state nanotechnology company Rusnano, has been detained in Moscow over a power abuse, Svetlana Petrenko, an official representative of the Investigative Committee, told PRIME on June 10.

Gorkov is suspected of bringing over 738 million ruble damage to Rusnano. Investigators believe that in 2011–2013, Gorkov was placing money in the range of 460–740 million rubles at commercial bank Smolensky Bank under the guise of settlement and cash services and thus actually financing the bank’s operations.

“In connection with the revocation of a license from this bank since December 13, 2014, Rusnano lost more than 738 million rubles, while the bank, directly on the eve of the revocation of the license, withdrew assets in favor of Gorkov’s brother in the form of real estate property valued at 400 million rubles,” Petrenko said.

A criminal case has been opened.
